What You'll Learn

The undergraduate history curriculum at Valdosta State spans time and covers all areas of the world, with a special focus on American history, Georgia history and the history of the southern region of the United States. Students also receive a strong foundation in the history of other regions of the world including South America, Africa, Europe and Asia. During the course of their studies, history students learn about major political and social developments in history, develop superior oral and written communication skills, and hone their critical analysis and historical interpretation skills. Outstanding students may qualify for the honors track.

The Public History program is designed to prepare students for careers in historic preservation, historical tourism, archival management, object collections management, museum studies, exhibit design, and other related public history fields. We offer a B.A. in History with an Emphasis in Public History, as well as a Public History Certificate.
