Curt Kimbrough, a native of Tifton, Ga is a 1987 graduate of Tift County High School. He attended Abraham Baldwin College where he studied under Professor Donald B. Coates playing lead and solo trumpet in the Jazz Ensemble. Mr. Kimbrough continued his undergraduate studies at Valdosta State College. While at VSC, he played in the Blazin Brigade, Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble under the Direction of Mr. Bob Greenhaw, completing his studies in 1991 with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education. Mr. Kimbrough went on to receive is Master of Music Education Degree in 1995 from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago.

Mr. Kimbrough began his teaching career in 1991 at Valdosta High School where he taught concert band and directed the VHS Jazz Ensemble! He taught for 21 years at Newbern Middle School before going back to his hometown to direct the Tift County High School Band from 2015-2020. Mr. Kimbrough has led successful performing jazz ensembles at every school he has taught, including his last three years at Valdosta Middle School here in Valdosta.

Mr. Kimbrough retired from teaching in 2023 after 31 years of successful band directing.

Mr. Kimbrough is a member of the Georgia Music Educator Association, Music Educators National Conference, 100 Black Men of Valdosta and the Kappa Tau Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated as a Life Member.
